On November 1, 2017 I tragically lost my son. While he tried selling his phone to someone he met on Craig 's List, he was shot by the potential buyer in a CVS store. He died on the way to the hospital, alone with no family by his side, no one to hold his hand or say goodbye. This caused extreme trauma to our whole family and it continues to affect our lives. His only sister was profoundly affected, now left alone, no brother, no best playmate, no protector or confidant. They loved each other so much and always did things together.

During this very difficult time with my daughter, I realized how siblings are greatly affected and sometimes even confused, feeling displaced by the loss of their sibling. Sometimes they are unintentionally neglected as their parents are grieving.
